RIS Automatic Shutdown

The RIS program can be shut down automatically at a scheduled time using the  Windows Task Scheduler. The purpose is to allow your RIS administrator to run patches to the RIS program which requires all users to be out of the RIS program.

Each RIS station must be set up individually with the Windows Task Scheduler. We recommend that you schedule a time after hours.

Our current patch includes the ristimer.bat and ristimer.exe files and these files will be found on each station in c:\riswin\support\

These two files must be in the c:\riswin\support folder. The contents of the ristimer.bat file has 2 lines of code:

c:\windows\syswow64\cmd.exe /c c:\riswin\support\ristimer.exe

exit

When you set up the Windows Task Scheduler, you set the time for the shutdown.

Please note that the shutdown program will display a message that the program will shut down in one minute. The user can click the button to delay the shutdown (in order to allow the user to complete a then pending task). The shutdown program will not prevent the user from restarting RIS.

Warning: DO NOT RUN THIS BATCH FILE ON YOUR SERVER.
