I LOST MY RIS ICON
OR
I HAVE A NEW COMPUTER STATION
I just bought a new computer station and I need RIS on the station. RIS files are on the server and not on this station OR my RIS icon disappeared.
Make sure that you have a mapping to the server folder Rishost. You MUST have this as a mapped drive with a mapped drive letter.
Open MyComputer or This PC
Click to open the Network Drive (It could be any drive letter that you assigned to your server)
Then,
-
Click Rishost Folder
-
Click Riswin Folder
-
Click Install Folder
-
Click Ristation Program. This will restore (or install) everything needed on the station.
You are done
Transfer RIS Program to New Computer
My server is being replaced. The server has the RIS files in the Rishost Folder. If you are a single user and do not have a server, then the server and your station are the same.
Step 1: Copy and Paste the entire folder RISHOST from your current computer/server to your new computer/server.
Step 2: Go to the first station using RIS. Make sure you are mapped to the new network drive.
Now create the RIS station:
Open MyComputer or This PC
Click to open the Network Drive (It could be any drive letter that you assigned to your server)
Then,
Click Rishost Folder
Click Riswin Folder
Click Install Folder
Click Ristation Program. This will restore (or install) everything needed on the station.
Step 4: Call RIS for a new authorization code.
(Note: It is important that the old Rishost folder is disabled on the network or you may find some stations connecting to the old rishost folder and you will not be able to recover that data.)
